I think this was a really productive meeting with Metro and thanks to Katie for facilitating it. Not fun to leave gaps, and like Doug said we told them this (they did also mention the 73 going away and the feedback they’d heard about leaving that gap, which our letter didn’t address because that wasn’t what the community group asked), but Metro’s reasoning—if not what we’d like to see as a result—is still solid.
Metro’s chief of staff (DeAnna) did ask if we wanted a formal letter as well but we said the slides were good in lieu. At our next TRU meeting (September, as I recall?), I think I’d like to show these to the TRU membership at large so they can see the level of detail Metro put in, another example of what BATS is up to, and give more context to folks on how the “machinations” of advocacy work. :)

They didn't back down from their position that cutting the Route 20 was the thing to do given their constraints and values and the outreach process had been thorough. We reiterated that we'd like to see Metro on a growth trajectory as soon as possible so that restructures and service changes don't have to be austerity-minded hunger games. We also expressed our thanks for responding to our Save the 20 letter and walking us through their decision process.
