Hey TRU folks in my address book,
I'm just making sure you already know that our fearless leader, *Katie
Wilson*,* is running for Mayor *and we'll need all hands on deck so she can
take out Bruce.
Please
*sign and donate $10 so she can qualify for democracy vouchers:*
https://www.thisisyourcity.org/
Please* tell all of your friends and family *how great she is and how
Seattle deserves a great mayor!
In case you haven't already seen this being passed around, here's her
current *volunteer form: *
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf5FhBxbdcXQ2_jcyOjUb4q5z7vZSjAabz-bsbTUHpCxEgABg/viewform
And sorry to spam you if you've already seen the news, but I'm pumped!!
Thanks,
-Harry
p.s., here's the long email I sent to a few friends earlier if you want to
copy/paste/reword and send to your friends/fam:
Hey XXXX,
Tl;dr: As a Seattle resident, *can you send a $10 donation* to my friend
Katie Wilson's campaign for mayor in addition to signing on to support her?
Here's the link: thisisyourcity.org
More info: She's an amazing progressive organizer and has a really good
shot at unseating our current, fairly conservative Mayor, Bruce Harrell.
Once she gets 600 $10 donations and signatures she qualifies for democracy
vouchers <https://www.seattle.gov/democracyvoucher/about-the-program>,
basically free public money that Seattle citizens can send to those running
for public office.
Katie leads the Transit Riders Union I volunteer with. She's led us to a
number of victories including: the highest minimum wage in the country in
Tukwila
<https://www.officialhacksandwonks.com/katie-wilson-raise-the-wage-tukwila/>
and Burien
<https://www.theurbanist.org/2024/03/28/op-ed-why-were-taking-buriens-minimum-wage-to-the-ballot-box/>,
the ORCA LIFT low-income fares
<https://transitriders.org/take-action/victories/>, free transit for youth
<https://transitriders.org/free-orca-passes-for-public-school-students/>,
stronger
renter protections
<https://transitriders.org/blog/2021/06/25/stay-housed-stay-healthy-making-progress/>
through
the Stay Housed Stay Healthy Coalition, and played an instrumental role in
passing <https://transitriders.org/blog/2020/12/16/2020-year-in-review/> the
JumpStart tax on big businesses which funds affordable housing and helps
tackle climate change.
I think she's the smart leader Seattle deserves. Anyway, please consider
donating and signing, and I'd be happy to buy you a drink and talk about it
more.

Thanks!
Harry
