Hi All,
Thanks for meeting at Optimism on Tuesday! On this email group are Mike, Harry, Stephen, Jim, and Tom. You should all have access to our wiki tool, PBworks. If you didn’t get an invitation or weren’t able to access the site, let me know.
I started making some tables that I thought might be a good way to display our survey data analysis <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/page/133613826/Commute%20Survey%201>. But, I’m not an expert on this stuff, so please take a look and let me know what you think. Mike is going to work on merging the data, removing PII, and either cleaning or identifying the cleaning tasks that need to be done.
Harry was able to scrape all the info we need and more <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/file/133642833/scraped_sbux_loc.xlsx> about Starbucks locations, so we’re good on that front!
Here’s the table for collecting info about CTR-affected employers <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/page/133437828/Potential%20CTR%20Targets> that don’t contract directly with Metro for ORCA programs. Feel free to fill stuff in. I just added a few columns that weren’t there before. Basically, we’re trying to decide whether these could be good targets. (And by the way, if you’re interested in reading about the Commute Trip Reduction law, you can do that here <https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/transportation-options-program/commute-trip-reduction-program/ctr-requirements>.)
Finally, here’s where we can list tasks that need to be done <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/page/133438026/Research%20Questions:>. I’m hoping all these pages are pretty easy to navigate to and between, just wanted to send some links to start things off.
If you have some time & aren’t sure what to work on, email me and we’ll figure something out!

The Transit Riders Union is a democratic organization of working and poor people, including students, seniors, and people with disabilities, taking control over our own lives, and building up the power we need to change society for the good of humanity and of the planet. We will fight to preserve, expand, and improve the public transportation system in Seattle and beyond, so that every human being has access to safe, affordable, and reliable public transit.
