Hi All,

Mike merged the google forms responses with the larger data set and removed PII— I’ve uploaded the file to the wiki here <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/file/133754394/Merged%20TRU%20survey%20no%20PII.xlsx>.

I think the main cleaning that needs to be done before we can answer most of the questions we’ve discussed so far is to remove responses from people who don’t commute to a job. I’ve described that task above the data analysis tables here <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/page/133613826/Commute%20Survey%201>.

I listed a couple more things people could do with the data now on the Research Tasks page here <https://seattletransitpasses-research.pbworks.com/w/page/133438026/Research%20Questions>. If you’re going to work on something please put your name in the table so we don’t duplicate efforts.

I’m going to be out of town tonight through Monday night but then will be back in action.

- Katie

p.s. In case it’s not clear, this is a listserv so if you reply to research at transitriders.org <mailto:research at transitriders.org> it goes to everyone in the group.

But, I’m not an expert on this stuff, so please take a look and let me know what you think. Mike is going to work on merging the data, removing PII, and either cleaning or identifying the cleaning tasks that need to be done.

Feel free to fill stuff in. I just added a few columns that weren’t there before. Basically, we’re trying to decide whether these could be good targets. (And by the way, if you’re interested in reading about the Commute Trip Reduction law, you can do that here <https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/transportation-options-program/commute-trip-reduction-program/ctr-requirements>.)

> The Transit Riders Union is a democratic organization of working and poor people, including students, seniors, and people with disabilities, taking control over our own lives, and building up the power we need to change society for the good of humanity and of the planet. We will fight to preserve, expand, and improve the public transportation system in Seattle and beyond, so that every human being has access to safe, affordable, and reliable public transit.
